Continuum of Services

The following is a description of the programming available within the district for eligible students (aged 3 to 22) as documented in their IEPs.

Programming Descriptions

Program:  Preschool - South Kingstown Integrated Preschool (SKIP), and Walk-in services

Location(s):  Peace Dale Elementary School

Program Overview: Services provided through the SKIP program are designed for students with disabilities aged 3-5 based on their own unique learning and developmental needs.  SKIP is a high-quality general education program that ensures access to the least restrictive environment.  Special Education services in the integrated model are delivered by an educator certified in both general early childhood education, and early childhood special education.  The integrated classroom model includes up to 15 children with and without disabilities (7:8). Children may attend from 3-5 days as determined through the IEP process.  Related services are primarily provided through an interdisciplinary, collaborative approach within the classroom with some pull-out services to address very specific individualized needs.

Children not requiring a program through special education or who are enrolled in an outside early childhood setting, or at home, may receive walk-in services in accordance with their Individualized Education Program.
