Report cards cannot be released before  Thursday, June 19th, the last day of the school year.  If, for some reason, your child will not be in school on the last day, you will need to pick up your child’s report card after that date or leave a self-addressed stamped envelope at school so that the report card can be mailed to you.  Report cards cannot be given out early.

MOVING????
If you are moving and will not be here next year, or if you know someone who will be new to our school next year, please let the office know.  Thank you!!

SUMMER BRIDGES BOOKS…
The books are in and will be sent home with your child tomorrow.  Thank you to all who ordered them.

LIBRARY NEWS…
If you are Spring cleaning and find any West Kingston School library books, please return them to the library.  We just want the books back – no penalties.
Thank you to the Axelrod and Arnold families for hosting a first grade book birthday party.  Our library received many appealing books as a result of this.
For next year the library will need a parent to be the Library and Celebration Book Club PTO Liaison.  Please consider volunteering for next reading year.
    Thank you!  Karen Patrick

Art Show/Book Fair/Ice Cream Social
Our annual Spring Art Show, Ice Cream Social and Book Fair will be held on Thursday, May 29th, 6-8 pm at the school.  Volunteers are still needed to help out with this event.

Popcorn Friday
Our first Popcorn Friday was a huge success.  Mrs. McGrath’s fifth grade class worked very hard taking orders, collecting and counting the money and then delivering the popcorn back to the classrooms.  The kids had a great day and the school had the wonderful smell of fresh popcorn all morning.  The fifth grade class was able to raise $138.00 for their classroom!!!  This week we will make one change to the ingredients: the student reviews came in and it was a little bland so we will be adding some SALT to the popcorn.  If you have any concerns, please contact Mrs. Vannoy, the school nurse.  Remember the cost is 50 cents for a bag of popcorn.  This week Mrs. Nolan’s fifth grade class will be in charge of popcorn day.  Next year each class will have a chance for it to be their day.  Thank you to the parents who helped make the popcorn, this could not have happened without you all. Questions, contact Tricia Angeli @ 783-7889, triciaangeli@cox.net.

Teacher Appreciation Week
Plans are underway for teacher appreciation week.  We will be having a breakfast for our staff on Monday, May 19th and a luncheon on Wednesday, May 21st.   If you would like to help out by making a special dish for either event, that would be wonderful.  Of, if you are crunched for time, as many of us are, we can always use things like bagels, juice, coffee, flowers…  Please contact Tricia Angeli @ 783-7889, triciaangeli@cox.net or Lisa DeMaria @  789-0435, jewelrydesignsbylisa@cox.net.  For those who have already offered to help out, many, many thanks to you all.  The staff at WKES works hard every day with our children so let’s make these two days special for them.  I know I appreciate the help I get from the parents and I know how much the staff appreciates it as well.  Tricia Angeli, PTO Co-President

PTO Final Meeting/Elections
Our last meeting of the school year will be held on Wednesday, May 21st at 7:00 pm in the school library. Won’t you consider joining us for one hour?  We are always looking for new faces and new ideas.

Everyone is welcome at the meetings and encouraged to attend.  Believe it or not, we do have some fun at these meetings while we discuss neat events/plans for our school.  And it is a FREE meeting!!  We will be electing PTO board members for next year.  Last meeting we had a great attendance of teachers at our meeting.  Thanks to all who were able to attend.  So come and see what it’s all about!  Any questions, contact Tricia Angeli @ 783-7889.

BUS STOP SAFETY…
Now that the weather is warming up, children are wanting to spend more time outside.  Take a few minutes to review these safety tips with your child:
* Do not approach a strange vehicle or engage in a conversation with strangers.
* Report any suspicious vehicle or individual to the bus driver, parent, teacher or principal immediately.
* Be alert to your surroundings and walk in groups.
