FIRE IN GYM…
Message from Nancy Nettik
As you have already heard, we had a small fire in the
gym on Thursday, January 3rd. We enacted our practiced fire drill procedure,
and all students and staff vacated the building without incident. Our
custodian, John Gould, who is also a volunteer fire fighter, put out the fire
before the fire department arrived.
I am so proud of how the situation was handled by all.
The following was written by Hailey B., a first grader:
(the spelling has been corrected)
Yesterday we had a fire drill. But then we found out that it was
a real fire. It was very, very scary. Luckily Mr. Gould was
a fireman and was able to put it out with the firemen. He is a
hero.
KARATE…
There will be no karate on Tuesday, January 15. There is no school
that day due to Professional Development for the staff.
READ-A-THON…
Read-a-thon to benefit the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island
West Kingston Elementary School students are hosting a read-a-thon to
benefit the Wildlife Clinic of Rhode Island. The proceeds will
go to help the clinic gear up their supplies and funds to help all the
orphaned animal babies that are brought to the clinic in the spring. More
information to follow. Everyone participating in the Read-a-thon
will need to read one animal book. This read-a-thon will take place
later in January until early February.
