School Committee Schedules Special Meeting to Consider Contract Agreement with NEASK

The South Kingstown School Committee will hold a special meeting on January 17 at 7:00 PM in the SKHS Library and is rescheduling its January 15 budget workshop to the same date. The sole item on the agenda is consideration of a successor agreement with the NEASK, the union representing teachers in the district. The proposed agreement covers the period September 1, 2008 through August 31, 2011. Since November the School Committee has been in negotiations with the NEASK and was able to reach agreement quickly and amicably. Details of the agreement, including the cost analysis, will be shared at the meeting.

Following the special meeting, the School Committee will hold the budget workshop that was originally scheduled for January 15 th. In other words, the January 15 th budget workshop is rescheduled to January 17 th along with a special meeting to consider contract ratification.
