Course Title: Tenth Grade Guidance Program

To investigate careers and make the connections between courses and the world of work

Course Objectives: Performance Indicators:

*Continue investigation of career with Harrinton O’Shea Interest Inventory
*Become exposed to career trends, employment opportunities and pathways to achieve success
*Select courses that will allow continued course exploration

*Begin to prepare for the post-secondary education testing sequence
*Continue to explore technical careers
*Take advantage of opportunities to develop decision making skills to make appropriate choices affecting physical, social and economic health, and acquire interpersonal skills
*Provide a welcoming environment to access guidance and career opportunities

 

The student will:
*Complete a Harrington O’Shea Interest Inventory and analyze the results
*Attend Quarter 3 Developmental Guidance Sessions

*Meet with guidance counselor individually to plan appropriate course selection
*Be encouraged to take the PSAT

*Encourage a career assessment at Chariho HS
*Participate in individual counseling sessions as needed

*Feel comfortable enough to visit the guidance office frequently
